Warsaw Chemical Information
Combat Novel Coronavirus with TB QUAT

TB Quat by Warsaw Chemical is a ready-to-use, quaternary disinfectant, detergent and deodorant that has been pre-approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use against emerging enveloped viral pathogens, including the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).  As such, TB Quat appears on the list of ready-to use COVID-19 fighting products compiled by the Center for Biocide Chemistries (CBC).

As of March 3, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported 60 cases of COVID-19 from 12 states. Twenty-two of these cases are travel-related; 11 are believed to be person-to-person spread; and for the remaining 27 the source of exposure is still under investigation.  According to The World Health Organization (WHO) more than 95,000 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed, resulting in over 3,200 deaths worldwide.

Patients with confirmed COVID-19 infections have reportedly had mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. There currently isn’t a vaccine to prevent infection.  The most effective form of prevention is to avoid exposure and take everyday actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including: Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 secondsAvoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed handsDisinfect shared surfaces, frequently touched objects and common areas Use a disinfectant with EPA registered kill claims (TB Quat)

HELP COMBAT THE CORONAVIRUS IN THE U.S.

The first case of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) in the United States was confirmed in the state of Washington earlier this month.  According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) the infected patient returned from a trip to Wuhan, China, where the 2019-nCOV originated.  As of January 31, there have been 6 confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the United States, including 1 in Everett, Washington; 2 in Chicago, Illinois; 2 in Los Angeles County, California, and 1 in Maricopa County, Arizona.  In addition, 9,000 cases have been diagnosed in China, and more than 200 people have died.  These numbers are expected to climb.

Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses ranging from the common cold to much more serious diseases and can infect both humans and animals, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).  The new strain, first identified in Wuhan, China in January 2020, is related to two other coronaviruses that have caused outbreaks in recent years: Middle East respiratory syndrome, also known as MERS, and severe acute respiratory syndrome, or SARS.

According to the CDC, investigations are ongoing and health officials are monitoring the virus.  Patients with confirmed novel coronavirus infections have reportedly had mild to severe respiratory illness with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath.  There currently isn’t a vaccine to prevent infection.  The most effective form of prevention is to avoid exposure and take everyday actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, including: Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands Disinfect shared surfaces, frequently touched objects and common areas  Use a disinfectant with EPA registered kill claims (see Warsaw Chemical products below)We will continue to monitor this evolving situation and share further guidance as it becomes available.
